WIELAND is continuing construction on The Teal-Jones Sawmill in Plain Dealing, LA. The Teal-Jones Group is headquartered in British Columbia and is the group’s fifth such mill in the United States. The building sits on a 235-acre site and spans 138,000 SF. Parish officials stated 125 permanent jobs will be created in the Bossier Parish because of the new mill, and around 300 temporary construction jobs. WIELAND participated in the groundbreaking ceremony on July 11, 2022, and is scheduled to complete the project in spring 2024.
WIELAND is proud to share final professional photos from the recently completed Ochsner Saint Mary’s Medical Center (SMMC) in Shreveport, LA. Ochsner SMMC LSU was the first trauma center in Louisiana to be recognized by the Louisiana Emergency Response Network and is the only Level 1 trauma center in the state. WIELAND’s renovation added 26,441 SF to the medical center and included updated patient rooms, new waiting areas, enhancements to the elevator systems, increased parking spaces, and space for top-line medical equipment. WIELAND began the project in late 2021 and completed the renovation in December 2022.
WIELAND is thrilled to show updated photos from the Illuminate Church project in Kissimmee, FL. In 2018, as a result of extreme growth, Illuminate Church purchased a 19-acre site on which it would construct its new campus. The new church includes a 600-seat sanctuary, classrooms, office space, and a youth room. WIELAND began the project in late 2022 and is scheduled to complete construction in the fall of 2023.
Today is Family Day at WIELAND! WIELAND was thrilled to host a “Bring Your Child to Work Day” at the Lansing office. Around 30 children of all ages came to catch a glimpse of their hard-working parents in action and engage in construction-related activities. Activities for the day included a hearty donut breakfast, WIELAND hard hat decorating, a showing of The Lego Movie, and a pizza party. WIELAND thanks each of the “young employees” who participated in this special day!
#TBT to 2015 when WIELAND completed the Fern Avenue Marketplace project in Shreveport, LA. This development was situated on 4.2-acres of land in a high-traffic area. The 68,000 SF total development included a 36,000 SF Whole Foods Market store and an additional 32,000 SF of prime retail and restaurant space. The development was designed by the architectural firm Read King and was completed by WIELAND in July 2015.
Update: WIELAND is excited to share an update on the Play Michigan universally accessible playground in downtown Lansing. The playground features ramps for handicapped children, high and low monkey bars that are wheelchair accessible, and special areas for those with sensory needs.
Construction is underway on the press pit in the Magna Cosma plant in Montezuma, IA. Cosma provides services in the automobile industry for Magna, including manufacturing both motor vehicle parts and transportation equipment. Construction on the facility includes a 23 ft press pit, 2,000-ton Mechanical Eccentric press, scrap building, and scrap tunnel with conveyer belt intended to carry waste to the scrapyard. WIELAND began the 3,000 SF addition project in January 2023, with a scheduled completion of fall 2023.

WIELAND is proud to announce the completion of the City View Apartments in downtown Lansing. City View is conveniently situated near retail stores, restaurants, entertainment venues, and the state capital. The complex includes 134,646 SF and contains 117 units. The development includes a fifth-floor club room with roof-top patio, and a lower-level parking structure. Work began in August 2021, and concluded in May 2023.
Please join us in celebrating Matt Getchell and his 25 years at WIELAND. Matt joined WIELAND on July 8, 1998, as an estimator and went on to serve as Project Manager and Senior Project Manager. He became a partner in 2012 and is Vice-President/Regional Director today. Thank you, Matt, for your dedication and 25 years of service to WIELAND!

Update: WIELAND is pleased to show the continuing progress on The Foundry complex in Huntsville, AL. WIELAND is partnering with a South Carolina real estate development firm, The Beach Company, to construct the new apartments. The complex consists of four apartment buildings totaling 342 units, three townhouse buildings and a 10,000 SF retail/restaurant building.
