WIELAND recently hosted an open house and subcontractor appreciation event at their Orlando office in Lake Nona. Employees of WIELAND and their valued traded contractors were able to network as they enjoyed drinks and ate delicious food from a taco truck. WIELAND values the important relationships with local trade contracts and works hard to maintain them.
This week WIELAND says Congratulations to Ryan Roberts, who joins the exclusive 25-year club. Ryan began his WIELAND career in April 1999 as a traveling superintendent. He went on to be a project manager and senior project manager, then moved to Shreveport, LA in 2008 to manage WIELAND’s office there, becoming a Regional Director and later a Partner. Ryan is now one of seven employees who currently have 25+ years of service. Thank you for your service, and congrats Ryan!
Earlier this month, WIELAND was represented by Sr. Project Manager Brock Smith and Sr. Business Development Manager Daniel Sprague at the GC Connect event hosted by Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC) of Central Florida. As Florida’s largest commercial construction trade association, ABC connects contracts and subcontractors statewide. With a focus on building relationships, WIELAND places great importance on its subcontractors, prioritizing their relationships with the company.
WIELAND was thrilled to participate in groundbreaking ceremonies on March 21 to celebrate a major addition to Sofidel’s tissue plant in Circleville, OH. Sofidel is a global tissue company based in Italy. The new addition will exceed 500,000 SF and represents a $185M investment in the community. Sofidel’s CEO, Luigi Lazzaresch, and Ohio Governor Mike DeWine both spoke at the event. WIELAND has already started construction, with a 2025 completion date.

Members of WIELAND‘s Florida office recently attended the University of North Florida Construction Management Career Fair in Jacksonville in search of summer interns and full-time employees. One of WIELAND’s core values is to “…identify and hire the best people,” and career fairs are a great place to meet future leaders in construction.
WIELAND is proud to announce its Shreveport (LA) office has been awarded the construction contract for a new Granular Activated Carbon (“GAC”) facility in Coushatta, LA. Arq, a diversified environmental technology company, made the announcement last month, citing construction costs $45-50M. The upgraded “Red River” facility will introduce new ways to purify coal waste into granular activated carbon, which can be used in water purification, soil and groundwater remediation, and renewable energy. Deke Williamson, COO of Arq, stated, “(This announcement) marks the start of a very busy year for Arq at Red River and I am pleased that we will be joined in this endeavor by our partners at WIELAND.”
WIELAND‘s Louisiana office recently attended the Bossier Chamber of Commerce‘s 76th Annual Meeting. The team enjoyed helping celebrate the top businesses and businessperson of the year honored during the event and helped commemorate the achievements of 2023! WIELAND’s business development manager for the Shreveport office, John David Person, sits on the chamber’s board of directors and was selected as a businessperson of the year finalist in 2022. WIELAND would like to congratulate all those recognized during the annual meeting.
WIELAND is excited to announce the promotion of two employees to new key positions. Amanda Canfield, a 24-year employee at WIELAND and currently a Senior Project Accountant, has been named Controller. Jim Flanagan, a nine-year veteran of WIELAND and currently a Senior Project Manager, has been named Director of Finance. Both employees will start the new jobs immediately as a part of a succession plan at WIELAND.
Today, The Associated General Contractors of Michigan (AGC) is hosting Michigan’s Construction Safety Training Day 2024. This event aims to promote safety awareness and best practices within the industry. Participants engage in various classes such as crane and rigging safety, demonstrations, and discussions led by experts in the field.
Safety has always been a fundamental part of WIELAND and any of its worksites. Scott Mason was promoted to Safety Director in 2022, and he monitors and enforces the effectiveness of WIELAND’s safety plan, helping to avoid injuries before they occur. Happy Construction Safety Day from WIELAND!
WIELAND is pleased to share photos from the recently completed SitePro Rentals in Shreveport, LA. SitePro is an equipment rental company with locations in Louisiana, Tennessee, and Georgia. This project includes renovating a 9000 SF building, including a showroom, large office space, and a large shop located on a 2.5-acre site. Linked below is a live walk-through of the renovation completed by WIELAND. The project commenced in the summer of 2023 and was completed in October 2023.

#TBT: WIELAND completed the luxury VistaBlue Singer Island condominiums in 2018. VistaBlue is a 19-story property located directly on Florida’s Palm Beach coast. Each of the 58 units features floor-to-ceiling windows with private terraces that allow its residents to enjoy stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean. Additionally, VistaBlue offers its guests amenities such as a terrace swimming pool, spa pool, fitness center, and social room. The 300,000 SF project was designed by Glidden Spina + Partners Architects of South Florida.
