Wieland-Davco has been awarded the opportunity to help restore the First Baptist Church of Portland (MI) from the unfortunate damages that took place from a tornado on June 22. First Baptist was one of many buildings in the path of the tornado, which traveled on ground for approximately four miles with winds near 100 mph. This left severe damage to dozens of businesses, four churches, and more than 70 homes. WDC has already assisted First Baptist with dehumidification and weatherproofing the remaining facility. Plans to restore the gymnasium and the sanctuary will start this coming August.

Wieland-Davco is excited to begin work on the new 56,766 SF YMCA in Shreveport, LA. This facility will provide members with amenities such as an eight-lane, 50-meter competition pool as well as a family pool. It will also include a free weight/cross fit room, two exercise studios, a gymnasium, and baseball and soccer fields that will take up 13.9 acres of the 42 acre site. This project is expected to be complete in 15 months.
On June 17 Wieland-Davco took part in the groundbreaking for the new 33,000 SF Prestige Cadillac Dealership on Van Dyke Road in Warren, MI. The project is located directly across from the General Motors Tech Center. Gregory Jackson, President and CEO of Prestige Automotive Group, shared an emotional moment about his dreams as a young boy: “I told myself, one day I would own a Cadillac,” said Jackson, who grew up in the Detroit area and always relished his uncle’s red and white Cadillac Coupe De Ville. During the groundbreaking Jackson stated, “For me to stand here today is a little emotional, certainly personal.” This is WDC’s fourth project for Prestige Automotive, continuing Wieland’s mission of “…serving lifelong clients.”
Wieland-Davco was proud to participate in the grand opening of the new 105,000 SF shotgun shell manufacturing facility headquarters of Rio Ammunition on June 25th in Marshall, Texas. Originally known as the “Spanish Dynamite Powder Company”, Rio was founded in 1872. Inigo Rodriguez, the managing director for Rio Ammunition states, “The construction of our new headquarters in Texas represents a giant leap forward for Maxam and Rio and an important turning point in the history of both companies.” Dignitaries from Texas state government, Greater Marshall, and from Rio’s parent company in Spain all spoke at the ceremony.
Wieland-Davco recently completed the new branch office for Greenstone Farm Credit Services in Alma, MI this past June. The 6,800 SF facility includes an open office along with eight smaller offices. Other features include: a vaulted reception area; conference room; lunchroom; wellness room, and bathroom and shower facilities within the office. This is WDC’s sixth project for Greenstone Farm Credit Services since the completion of its corporate headquarters in 2010.
Wieland-Davco continues the beginning stages of construction on the Viera Towne Center in Viera, FL. This project features 282 total units, with a mixture of one, two, and three bedroom apartments.
