  Haunt the Harbor!

  

  Haunt the Harbor! WIELAND is excited to sponsor and support Volunteers for Youth Justice‘s inaugural Haunt the Harbor fall festival, happening on Friday, October 25, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at The Harbor in Shreveport, LA. This family-friendly event will offer free trick-or-treating and food for the first 500 guests, along with a variety of festive, holiday-themed activities for all attendees.

   

  The festival spotlights six vital programs hosted by Volunteers for Youth Justice, including Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), Families in Need of Service (FINS), My Community Cares (MCC), Truancy Assessment and Service Center (TASC), Youth Empowerment Center (YEC), and Youth Programs. Join Volunteers for Youth Justice, Kendig Injury, and WIELAND for a fun-filled evening celebrating community spirit and support!

  Maureen & Steve’s Retirement Party

  

  The WIELAND family gathered on October 17th to honor and celebrate the remarkable careers and upcoming retirements of two shareholders: Maureen Devota, CFO, and Steve Opper, Vice President of New Business Development. Though both will continue through the end of the year, employees from across the WIELAND offices came together to reflect on the dedication, leadership, and lasting impact Maureen and Steve have brought to WIELAND throughout their careers. As they embark on the next chapter of their lives, we extend our heartfelt thanks and best wishes for continued success and happiness in the next chapter of life!

  ABC Award

  

  On October 10, the WIELAND team, in collaboration with Gaylor Electric, was honored with the Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC) Kentucky/Indiana “Award of Excellence” for their work on the Pratt Paper Mill #18 project in Henderson, KY. This award recognizes the entire project team – from owner and contractor to engineer and designer – highlighting the innovation, quality, communication, and safety essential to delivering a successful project. Congratulations to both the WIELAND team and Gaylor Electric on this outstanding achievement!

  Sofidel Expansion

  

  The expansion of Sofidel, an Italian tissue manufacturer, continues in Circleville, OH. In response to consumer demand, Sofidel is investing $185M in a 500,000 SF addition to its complex in Southern Ohio. Originally built in 2018, the expansion started in early 2024 and WIELAND is scheduled to finish by Q1 2025. Sofidel’s growth underscores its dedication to meeting rising market needs in the Midwest and globally.

  Delhi Fire Station Ground Break

  

  Breaking ground in our own backyard! On October 8, WIELAND joined the Delhi Township Fire Department in kicking off construction for its new fire station in Holt, MI. The current station, built in 1996, accommodates only four beds for 15 full-time firefighters and paramedics, along with five supervisors and support staff. The new facility will offer expanded bedding, office, and storage space, enhancing response times and providing a more comfortable environment for the team. Demolition of the existing firehouse is set to begin this week, with construction expected to be completed within 16 months.

  Rob Dick’s Anniversary

  

  This past week, WIELAND celebrated Rob Dick’s 25th anniversary with the company. Rob began his journey with WIELAND on October 1, 1999, in the Construction Services division. Over the years, he has grown into his role as Superintendent, taking on high-profile projects such as the British Colonial Hilton (Nassau, Bahamas) Bowling Green Metalforming (KY), Newport Bay Marina (CA), Kamtek (AL), and currently, Magna Structures (TN). He now joins the ranks as the eighth current employee with over 25 years of service. Thank you, Rob, for your dedication and positive spirit. And thank you to his wife, Kelly, for “loaning” us Rob for important assignments!

  College Fairs

  

  WIELAND is building careers, one campus at a time! To engage and connect with the next generation of construction industry leaders, WIELAND participated in five career fairs this fall, visiting Michigan State University and Ferris State University in MI, Louisiana Tech and the University of Louisiana Monroe in LA, and the University of North Florida. Thank you to all the students who stopped by to learn about WIELAND and its projects. WIELAND is excited to meet its future interns!

  WIELAND Golf Outing

  

  On Friday, September 13, WIELAND employees from the Lansing office came together to celebrate a successful summer with a company golf outing. Held at the Portland Country Club, the day was filled with beautiful weather, great (okay, maybe good) rounds of golf, and opportunities to strengthen relationships. The 2024 winning team, consisting of Anthony, Dorothy, and Jerry, finished -10.

  Springs at Five & Main

  

  WIELAND is expanding Continental Properties’ footprint into Commerce Township, Michigan! Continental, founded in 1979, is a national leader in developing and managing multifamily, retail, and hospitality properties. In July, WIELAND began construction on the Springs at Five & Main, Continental’s sixth community in Michigan. This project is part of the Five & Main development, a mixed-use, walkable town.

  The complex will feature 284 units, ranging from studios to three-bedroom apartments, with amenities including a resort-style pool, 24-hour fitness center, and an upscale clubhouse. This marks WIELAND’s third project for Continental Properties, highlighting its commitment to serving repeat clients.

  All-In-Fall-In

  

  On September 9, WIELAND staged its Annual All-In-Fall-In (AIFI) event. During the AIFI, employees from all three offices and numerous job sites gathered in person and over Zoom to celebrate projects completed in the past 12 months. The event also provided an opportunity to celebrate personal milestones such as promotions, marriages, and babies. WIELAND is proud of its achievements in 2024 and looks forward to an exciting 2025!

  WIELAND is proud to announce two well-deserved promotions: Julie Lucas has been promoted to Corporate Compliance Manager after serving as a Project Accountant since 2015. Her dedication to setting high standards has made her an integral part of WIELAND’s success, and she will use that same ability to audit WIELAND’s daily operations.

  Tyler Buxton, formerly a Site Superintendent, has been named Project Manager. Tyler joined WIELAND in 2013 and has consistently shown strong leadership and dedication to both his team and the projects he oversees.
