Teal Jones Sawmill

In December, WIELAND will complete the Teal Jones Sawmill in Plain Dealing, LA. Teal Jones, a 70-year-old family-owned business and the largest privately held forest products company on Canada’s west coast is expanding its operations in the U.S. with this new mill.

This facility is the fifth southern yellow pine Teal Jones Sawmill in the U.S. and the first in LA. At full operational capacity, the 138,000 SF sawmill will produce 300 million board feet of lumber annually with industry-leading recovery rates. The lumber will supply pulp and pellet plants in the surrounding region. Additionally, the project is expected to create 125 permanent jobs, contributing to economic growth in Bossier Parish in Northwest LA.

WIELAND joined Teal Jones in July 2022 for a groundbreaking ceremony attended by executives from both organizations and former LA Governor John Bel Edwards. After just over two years of construction, the project is ready to drive growth and opportunity in the region!
