Chimp Haven Ground Breaking
The Alamogordo chimps are officially home at sanctuary! After years of advocacy, all the remaining chimpanzees from the Alamogordo Primate Facility in New Mexico have officially been granted retirement to sanctuary after spending their lives in biomedical research. To welcome them, Chimp Haven, the world’s largest chimpanzee sanctuary, has partnered with WIELAND to expand on its 200-acre property to create natural, engaging spaces for these chimps to live out their retirement with fellow chimps and the freedom to choose how to spend their days. The Chimp Haven Ground Breaking was held in April and is set to finish by fall.
