Defenders of Liberty Air Show
Since 1933, Barksdale Air Force Base has been deeply invested in Shreveport, Bossier City, and the surrounding region, playing a vital role in its economic growth. Just a year after its establishment, the base hosted its inaugural air show, showcasing the power of what was then the “world’s largest airport.” Now, 92 years later, the Defenders of Liberty Air Show continues to draw crowds, highlighting both modern aviation technology and historic aircraft that have shaped the Air Force’s legacy.
WIELAND‘s Business Development Manager, John Person, actively serves on the Shreveport-Bossier Military Affairs Council and the Air Show Planning Committee. In recognition of his contributions, John was invited to participate in a civic leaders’ tour, experiencing a flight in a 1968 Vietnam-era UH-1 Huey helicopter. Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux and Bossier City Tommy Changler also attended, as the group was flown by the Barksdale Sky Soldiers.
WIELAND is proud to be connected with the Defenders of Liberty Air Show, which positively impacts the community and is honored to give back in support of its mission.
